Discovery Focused Research Facility

This discovery arm of Nathan Mhyrvold’s enormous patent treasure trove is doing fascinating research and development work. IV’s mantra, “Be scrappy,” means that nothing fancy is needed, just space to invent, create, and make.

The opportunity to put everyone together in one building—to create one giant hive of invention and literally mix rocket scientists and master chefs, nuclear physicists, and master tool and die makers—created an amazing opportunity for architectural and interior design. The space also needed to allow for maximum cross pollination between disciplines while still providing enough quiet space for those who need it.
